FOR SALE (Jun 20, 2009) California - Double Chain Sprocket Kits for the MT-19 & MT-14 - Have you ever broken or thrown a chain? Well here's the answer to that problem! With this kit you will never have to worry about breaking or throwing a chain again. This kit is a direct replacement for the single chain setup found on many U.S. built Fairmont cars. Double chain is much stronger then single and will not jump off the sprockets like the single will. Each kit consists of a split final drive sprocket as well as the transmission and idler sprocket. These kits were made for Canadian National Railway because they were tired of having their track workers stranded miles from their home yard with a broken or thrown chain. All parts in the kit are new and designed to accomodate #40 double chain. Chain is not included in this kit but can be purchased at most bearing supply stores. Price for this kit is $150.00 plus a $15.00 shipping charge. If a second idler is needed, they are available for an additional $45.00.

Each buckle shows a heavy relief MT-19 in orange livery. Only 200 were made and I've uncovered a few that were "lost" for the last 15 years. It's a neat belt buckle for everyone in the hobby. They are NEW and made of Pewter. The measurements are...3 1/8" X 2 1/4". These buckles were designed for belts up to 1 3/4" wide. Each is numbered and the few that I have are all in the lower number range. The one pictured is #37. They are priced at $15.00 each with postage included in the price. Postage to Canada is an additional $5.00

FOR SALE (Jun 13, 2009) California - Motorola Visar Hand-held Radios - The Motorola Visar is one of the smallest professional hand-held VHF radios ever made. It measures only 4" in height (w/o antenna), 2 1/4" wide and 1 1/2" deep. It has the same 5 watt output as larger more bulky models, yet it can fit into the breast pocket of a safety vest. And by using the optional speaker/microphone you can have almost "hands free" operation. This radio has 16 channel capacity and normally comes programmed with the three (3) NARCOA frequencies. This give thirteen (13) open channels for your own use. There is no additional charge for programming the open channels. It is very heavy duty with Fairmont A-4 axles and bearing assemblies. The 16" wheels show very little use and are "Like New". The three lockable cabinets are designed to accomodate gas bottles in one and associated equipment in the other two. There is also open space to mount a gas driven Wire Feed or Arc welding Machine. FOR SALE (May 5, 2009) Texas - Tamper TMC-2 Motorcar - This is a Tamper TMC-2 Motorcar that I have recently acquired through a local heavy equipment auction. I believe this car is in original condition as delivered from the factory. The interior seating and dashboard appear to be original. The original factory installed Briggs and Stratton 18HP engine and torque converter transmission appear to be original and operational. The axles appear straight.
This is the first "complete" factory original Tamper TMC-2 that I have seen in person. From my visual inspection, the car is complete both on the interior and under the hood. Nothing seems missing and it should not take very much effort to get the car ready to test run on the rails.
I will actually pick up the car the weekend of 5/9 and begin my efforts to get the car on the rails. However, I am not emotionally invested in this car. I personally prefer the Fairmont products and have plenty of Fairmont related projects to keep me busy. I really do not need another project car. If anyone is interested in purchasing the car soon, I am willing to sell at a fairly reasonable price.

The more labor I invest to get the machine operational on the rails, the more I will be asking for the car in the future. The car is located in Greenville, TX about 1 hour north east of Dallas, TX.

FOR SALE (Mar 22, 2009) Georgia - Big Moose 1938 Speeder - This motor car was originally built by Northwestern Railcar Company in 1938. Great excursion speeder car for a rail roading fan or family. This speeder - motor car was originally built as a open work crew ("hop-on") car. It is a Model 561-V8/85. The speeder spent its entire work life on the Delaware & Hudson Railroad operating at the Republic Steel plant north of Albany, New York. It has the original 1938 Ford V8-85, 85 horsepower flathead engine. The engine, transmission, radiator, running gear, and frame/suspension is original 1938 and is 4-wheel drive. The Speeder was restored 1993 from ground up, including new twin cylinder hydraulic turntable (enabling it to reverse direction on the tracks), complete new aluminum cab & windows, twin hot-water cab heaters, three new bucket seats and upholstery, new water pumps, alternator, electric radiator fan, twin air horns, NARCOA radio, built-in battery charger, 32 gal. gas tank and NARCOA regulation lighting. The engine compartment is complemented by chrome "dress-up" components. For a little Hot Rod flavor, three - 2 barrel carburetors top off the flatmotor feeding fuel to a 3/4 race camshaft exhausting thru twin Glaspac mufflers. Car can seat three, rides six. Top speeder speed - 50 plus MPH.

SOLD! (Mar 13, 2009) Colorado - hiway trailer/ push cart - This used to be a "trak skan" but the hydraulics and electronics were shot. It has hi way wheels that fold up for use on the rails and fold down to be towed behind a car or truck on the road. I thought about putting rails on it to haul a speeder, but I would guess it would have to be a lighter weight car. I have a clear colorado title for it. could use new tires but probably will get you home, does have spare. needs one fender straitened out some and put back on, may do that one day. all lights work. has 14" fairmont rubber tread tires. rubber is very good near new. Two the flange is near new, the other two the flange is worn. being cast, this area is still 3/4" think on the most worn one. too many projects need to clear some stuff out. Located in Colorado just north of Denver, will be in Santa Fe, NM in April possible delivery to there. $275.

Car Number 240350. Car purchased new from Fairmont on 7-28-75 by Colorado-Ute Electric Association. It was used to carry personnel between Rockwood and the Tacoma Power Plant on the Durango & Silverton Railroad. Has RO-C engine, 3-1/2” engine pulley. Is NARCOA ready” Lots spare parts. This is an all weather car with side and rear curtains. Has been on many “Narrow Gauge Gang” tours, even the original first runs on C&TSRR and D&SNGRR. Car has been completely disassembled and rebuilt with only approx. 50 hrs. running time since rebuilding. Have Original manual with car. Only a few of these “original” M15Z36’s around.
