ex L&N Hook and Eye Trackage
Return to Gallery Index
This was a two day event organized by Bobby Moreman. Set on Friday was Lovely. The next two days were cold, rainy and miserable as we covered the CSX (ex L&N) line from Mineral Bluff, Georgia northward toward Etowah, Tennessee. The line includes the famous "Loop" of the Hook and Eye line. Since this trip, the line has been sold to a governmental agency. Its future is uncertain, so it is quite possible that this was the last excursion through the loop.

Yours truly, Andy Dingsor, in the "Vista Dome" taking photos. It's now well below thirty degrees.

Passing the copper mine in McCaysville. This mine was closed by a strike, resulting in this line losing its traffic.

Rolling south through the McCaysville passenger boarding platform.

Switching from the mainline to the wye at Mineral Bluff

Leaving the wye southbound. Just a few miles to Mineral Bluff and warmth.

the sun finally pops out as we arrive at the Mineral Bluff station, ending two cold and wet, but wonderful, days on the line.
